71.0. "Lillee, caught Willey bowled Dilley." by COMICS::LOGAN () Wed Dec 07 1988 14:23

Frost on the ground, forecast is for snow, must be about the right
time to start talking about the forthcoming Cricket season.

As some of you are aware (Messrs McGaughrin, McCombe, Wood, Smith
etc (Queens Park have got a Cricket team haven't they Harvey?)
DEC Basingstoke have a team entered in the Basingstoke Midweek League
and last year we won promotion to Div 2 at our first attempt. (APPLAUSE
    APPLAUSE)

The team was made up of mainly Viables people, a couple did venture
in from Hamps House and Wimgrove, and at times we did find ourselves
a little short. Next years games will be harder, there's also the
prospect of the IBM fixture, and we'll need a strong team every week.
DEC being DEC, training courses etc etc, the same individuals cannot
guarantee playing every week therefore we do need a large squad.

We will have about 11 league fixtures next year.

If anyone out there is interested in playing please contact me,
I'm the Captain as you may have quessed, we hope to arrange some
nets before the start of the season and it would also be nice if
we could get a few friendlies before the season starts. We will
also have an AGM early in the new year.

Any offices fancy challenging Viables? Unbeaten for the last 2 years,
but I'm sure someone can beat us!
