Not exactly a moderation issue, but...

Apologies for the unavailability of DRILL and thus this conference for
the past couple of days. This was for reason beyond my control (as is much of
life but that's another story).

Hopefully there will be no more disruptions of service without prior
warning.

7.3Seems OK to meLARVAE::BARKERDo not fold, spindle or mutilateWed Sep 21 1988 11:5118
Re .2

I don't know why this should be. DRILL is in Snamprogetti House and of
course when I access it from other machines on the Ethernet the response is
very fast. At present DRILL for most of the time has little or no use other
than as host to BASINGSTOKE.

I tried accessing it from machines at the TMC in Reading and found that
the response times were excellent. It would appear to be the network from
Viables to Snam is rather slow.

There was a problem a week or two ago with an application (VPA) running
on DRILL that steadily took over the machine and brought it to a standstill
such that the response times were terrible. This has been fixed now (we are not
running VPA). So if response times have improved for you then that is the
reason.

7.5Recent problems fixedLARVAE::BARKERDo not fold, spindle or mutilateTue Apr 04 1989 10:339
Apologies for the defective service on this conference lately.

This was due to the fact that I went off on hols & during that time the system
disk of DRILL filled up. As DRILL is only minimally managed this wasn't fixed.

IS are taking responsibility for this machine now so look forward to a vast
improvement in availability :-)

7.6Normal service now resumed (I think)LARVAE::BARKERDo not fold, spindle or mutilateTue Apr 04 1989 17:436
More apologies from your moderator. The DECnet database on this machine was
incorrect and thus it didn't know the name of everybody's node just the number.

This has now been fixed and hopefully everything is now ticketyboo.

7.7Welcome BackLARVAE::BARKERDo not fold, spindle or mutilateThu Jun 22 1989 12:268
We appear to have moved succesfully from our old home on DRILL and are
now open for business again.

We look forward to many hours of read/write pleasure from our band of
happy noters united in their love of BASINGSTOKE, the greatest cultural and
social oasis in the whole of North-East Hampshire.

	Whoops.....

We have had a problem for a couple of days that I've only just
realised about it. As it arose during our voyage across to MALLET I wasn't
immediately aware.

There have been problems with adding new notes & adding replies, this
has now been fixed (honestly) so if you do have a problem for godsake tell me.
