	    Recently I found this note conference and this is very useful
	for me.

	    I will introduce our SWS support businesses for insurance industry 
	in JAPAN that started about two years ago to you. Our target accounts 
	are Nihon Life Insurance Company(NISSAY), Dai-ichi Life Insurance 
	Company, Sumitomo Life Insurance Company and a few others and are 
	increasing year by year. 
	
	    I will introduce only NISSAY account to you ,because the other
	accounts are still small.

   CURRENT STATUS :

	    At first I will report current support status.

	    NISSAY which is the largest insurance company in the world 
	purchased DIGITAL environment last spring. They have now two 6000-310s 
	in VAX Cluster environment and three VS3100s on the same ethernet. 

	    In the Cluster system "Total Asset Management System" (a tentative
	name) which is a simulation system for their asset allocation is 
	working. 
	They make future investment plans for their total asset by the 
	application, and make directions to each section which invests in 
	stocks,bonds,real estates....   Now maintenance phase is proceeding.
	Moreover from this APRIL they are building a new application system 
	"Investment Management System for Foreign Real Estates" in the Cluster.

	    In the VS3100s "Stock/Port System" which is an application system
	for management of stock investment purchased from NOMURA SECURITIES is 
	working.

	    We, DIGITAL SWS members, have supported for application systems in
	the Cluster since last spring.


   FUTURE PLANS :

	    I will report future support status.

	    NISSAY has two new plans for front end system by DIGITAL.

	    The one is a trading system infrastructure which is just like 
	PriceWatch, TRADE system by MICROGNOSIS, or Triarch by REUTER. Hardwares
	are one VAX6000-xxx (add to Cluster) and 80 VAX STATIONs(perhaps 
	VS4xxx) , and we, DIGITAL SWS, will develop application software for 
	it. Thereafter NISSAY plans to develop their front office applications 
	on it, for examples, Stock Investment System, Bond Investment System... 
	We are waiting for their final decision how to implement, when
	it will release...
	    The competitors were REUTER and MICROGNOSIS in application part,
	and SUN(SPARC) and IBM(POWER) in workstation part.

	     The other one is an PC-INTEGRATED OA system. HARDWARE is not 
	decided on ,but we propose VAX6000-310 or some MicroVAX3800s. As
	you guess, they will use ALL-IN-1, PCIP and some other vendor's 
	VT emulators. 500 PCs(Tokyo 300 and Osaka 200) ,which are IBM5550
	(PS/2 Japanese Version),J3100(TOSHIBA's best selling LAPTOP PC),
	N5200(NEC PC), OASYS(FUJITSU's WORD PROCESSOR for Japanese Langurage) 
	and others will be integrated. On the environment they want to do 
	electric mail,meeting room reservation,electric bulletin board,
	schedule management... in the whole company.
	To our regret, we dropped PCSA for LAN software part. They choose
	UNGERMANN. This system will be released next spring.
	     There were no competitors in hardware and OA application parts.
