32.0. "DEC based applications" by OSPREY::STUBBS (John DTN 824 3355) Thu May 12 1988 06:54

I am trying to build up data on DEC systems used by Insurance organisations
    or where we are bidding.

What are the insurance world using our machines and solutions for?

The notes file seems a good way of sharing this information or by
    mail if confidential.

The specific information I am looking for is:

Insurance Company, and DEC contact both technical and sales.
    Business problem solved.
    Application.
Produced in house or OEM (if OEM which one)
    Integration to existing systems?
    When installed?

Hope you will be able to help

    \John

32.1Who are you ?ODIHAM::MOSSMANA Master of the UniverseThu May 12 1988 08:5114
    John,

I'm afraid I can't help you directly as I am not currently involved
in the insurance market per se. I would however point you at Tillie
Kingsley in Wigmore Street as she has got at least an embryo file
    on this subject.

May I ask a favour of you please. It would help enormously if all
contributors signed into the Guest Registry in this conference,
particularly as most of us don't know each other yet.

    Mike.

32.3More data and applications pleaseOSPREY::STUBBSJohn DTN 824 3355Tue Oct 04 1988 10:0611
I guess we are doing things at Aetna and not many other places!
Surely we must be having some successes elsewhere.

Is it possible to quantify the size of any of these application so that
we can understand how they relate to systems in other target companies?

Do we have any data on volumes, transaction rates etc. and any more
    detailed application descriptions.

    Hope someone will help.

              COOPERATIVE MARKETING PARTNER ANNOUNCEMENT
LIFE INSURANCE SALES MANAGEMENT & SUPPORT APPLICATIONS

Digital and Applied Expert Systems, Inc. (APEX) have signed a Cooperative
Marketing Program (CMP) Agreement to jointly market APEX's Client
Profiling product for the Life Insurance Market.

Client profiling is designed to help insurance companies respond to the
challenges of agent productivity, database marketing and needs based selling.
APEX customers have experienced a 100% increase in sales per agent as a
result of using the process.

Client Profiling is an application that uses expert systems technology.
The software creates a customer profile (financial plan) that is personalized
for each insured. The profile is driven by the consumers' needs, borrowing
tendencies, financial risk preferences and the data easily collected during a
typical agent sales call.

The profiling process also prepares a sales script for the insurance agent.
This agent's Report contains information about all of the products that are
appropriate for the customer and are offered by the insurance company.

Simultaneously, a data file containing customer information, planning
observations, recommendations and product opportunities is created. This
customer data file, for the first time, offers insurance companies an
opportunity to develop a database marketing approach based on consumer needs.

The Client Profiling System runs on VAX hardware. Data collection is done
on PC's or Laptops in the agent's office.

APEX offers a full range of consulting services to support the client
profiling
system. Assistance can be provided in Business Planning, Sales and Marketing
Consulting, Financial Planning and Expert Systems Technology.

Client Profiling can be customized by APEX to meet a specific customer's
environment. The product is extensible to sales and marketing issues for
banks,
brokerage, or other retail financial services firms.
