31.0. "UK Insurance Consultants' Forum" by FACT01::LAWRENCE (Jim/Hartford A.C.T.,DTN 383-4523) Fri May 06 1988 17:45

(I moved this note to highlight it separately...JL)

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I would like to introduce to you the UK Insurance Consultants Forum

The inaugral meeting was held on January 25th, 1988 and our next
meeting will be on May 6th.

There are currently some 25 UK consultants / SWAS specialists either
directly involved with insurance accounts,or with a considerable
    background within the Insurance industry.

The objective of the forum is to create a network of relationships
and information across the industry, within Digital, so that leads,
opportunities, contacts, scraps of information, help with problems
etc., circulate freely as well as the more formal knowledge transfer
of industry trends and future potential and thus we can co-ordinate
our efforts industry wide. We have expansionist plans and would
like to involve the European Insurance/Finance consultants too -
or any one visiting from the US!

As a central focus for this network, it was agreed that a Notes
    file was essential.

About that time we discovered the US Insurance conference. We realise
that, given the global nature of the Insurance marketplace, it would
be more effective, in Digital terms, for us to join you rather than
    create a new conference.

We have very similar interests and objectives to our US colleagues
and many of the accounts we work in are either subsidiaries of US
    co.'s or vice versa e.g. Sedgwick's and Fred S. James; St Paul's,
Coroon and Black and J.H.Minet to name just two examples. This trend
to global insurance companies will surely be intensified over the
next few years due to the many pressures working within the industry.
I am sure we will all benefit from global information!

We look forward to plenty of communication!

cheers, Tillie Kingsley, ACT Insurance Industry Consultant

I'm very pleased to see Tillie's note and hope that this conference
    does become truely trans-Atlantic.

Will all UK readers please log into the Guest Register even if you
are only reading at the moment. We all need to know who is out there
that can help us in case we come across a situation that someone
    else has already been through.

    End of commercial !

    Mike.

31.2Suggested format for notes input from UKCHEFS::COLLINSPFri May 13 1988 06:368
It is very important that we establish some sort of structure to
the way we add into this notes file. I have laid out a suggested
    approach in Note 16.4.

I would welcome comments on these suggestions.

    Phil
