Dear Associates: Are any of you working with P/C claims systems. We have an opportunity to respond to a major reinsurer (true Blue until now) in this application area. Any thoughts, contacts, third-party products, etc. would be apppreciated. Thanks, Joe Ritchie @HTF DTN 325-1923

Are you sure this is a RE-insurer? If so, claims processing at the re-insurance level is significantly different from a direct carrier. For example, the direct carrier must process each claim individually, match the claim to a policy, and apply loss and expense payments to that claim (VERY simplistic description). Re-insurers seldom get involved at that level, unless the claim is VERY large. And even if they do, their record keeping requirements are more summary and financial in nature, since they have no regulatory requirement to report claim stats to the state governing bodies. Call me at DTN 352-2968 if you want to discuss this further. Bob O'Hara | |||||

We do quite a bit of work with Grinnell Mutual Reinsurance of Grinnell, Iowa. They were using some software from TLS, but I think most of it is home grown on their VAXcluster now. I'd call the Des Moines Office to start. |
