I am looking for a combination of packages to manage the investment department of a large life or property and casualty company. This company does not need the statuatory or regulatory reporting as this is in house developed. Since their needs go beyond what CAD or Money Management Systems do, what combination of packages will do most of what they want, and do we have any installed systems? These packages would handle trading, portfolio analysis, private placements, etc. Thanks.

I probably have the most complete list of packages on Vax for these applications, but in order to point you in the right direction, you will have to specify some of their requirements. Most portfolio management systems have both a portfolio managers and traders functionality established within them. Some can handle fixed income, money market, equities and mutual funds. Some are multicurrency. Some have research packs to assist in portfolio performance evaluation. Some have modules that interface to the various clearing houses. Fixed income trading systems like Money MArket II from Money Management Systems have only the trading fuctionality with backoffice accounting and clearance. Money MArket II is a completely different package in functionality and approach from Computer Aided Decisions product, EPVS which is truly a portfolio management system. Provide some additional details or send me mail at BMT::RIZZO. I will try to get back to you as quickly as possible. Carol
12.2 | PORTFOLIO DYNAMICS IS SOLID | SANFAN::LORBER_RA | Wed Sep 07 1988 20:08 | 11
Portfolio Dynamics was recently installed on a MicroVAX 2000 at AMEX Life Assurance Company. It is a fantastic success. It replaced Oscar's PRISM. The PRISM package has a large license fee and the installation was incomplete after a two year effort. Portfolio Dynamics cost $2000 and was installed over a weekend. The client entered two years of data in a one week period. The client is so excited it now wants to take al of the Financial systems off of the IBM mainframe. If I can be of help, I am Raymond Lorber @SZO. |
