97.0. "New version, TDLX126" by PLAYER::BROWNL (Good girls go to heaven...) Fri Oct 15 1993 16:55

    There is a new version of TDL out. It is available from

    TARKIN::ACAD77:[LIN.PUBLIC.WINDOWS3]

    There are two files:

    TDLX126.ZIP and
    TDLEXE26.ZIP

    The former is a full kit, for new installations. The latter is simply a
    couple of READMEs and a new executable (TDL.EXE); all that is required
    to upgrade an existing installation.

    Please don't forget the rules regarding access times: only access after
    work hours, Eastern Time. If the files aren't there yet, be patient,
    Bill's a busy man, and I only just sent them to him..

    Any complaints/problems with the new software, please post them here,
    and I'll see to it that Keith gets them.

    Cheers, Laurie.

    Well, Mr. Watkins, you have a PC, and Pathworks. It's easier for you to
    unpack the ZIP than I. I who have to borrow a PC. Be my guest.

    Laurie.

                                TDL X.126
                                ~~~~~~~~~
    [Version change details are at the end of this file]
    Introduction
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~

    TDL is a program designed to help you maintain a list of "to do" items.
    These items can be deleted, saved, rescheduled, edited, have alarms,
    notes or telephone numbers associated, and lots more. A fuller list of
    features is given below.

    Environment
    ~~~~~~~~~~~
    TDL needs Windows 3.1.
    Features
    ~~~~~~~~

    TDL includes the following functionality:

	o Postponing of items by a given number of days, or until
	  a specific date

	o Closing of items, which are saved for later reports, etc

	o Permanent deleting of items

	o Editing of items

	o Alarms attached to items

	o Notes attached to items

	o Maintenance of a telephone number database, with the ability
	  to associate a telephone number with an item

	o Prioritisation of items

	o Notification of overdue items

    o The ability to handle multiple databases open simultaneously (a
      "database" in this context is a list of related items. For
      example, you may have a list of to do items for project X, another
      for project Y, and a third list of personal to do items).

    o The ability to assign meaningful (non-8.3) names to databases

    o The ability to automatically load given databases on startup, and
      to determine which one will be displayed by default

    o Extensive customisation options

    Installation
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~
    Unzip the kit to a floppy disk or a spare directory on your hard disk,
    and execute SETUP.EXE (if you do this from DOS, Windows will automatic-
    ally be started for you). Then simply follow the on-screen instructions.
    Redistribution
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    You are wecome to redistribute this application provided that:

        1. All files, including this one, are distributed
        2. No charges are made, other than a nominal one for copying the
           files

    Product registration
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
    TDL is shareware: it is NOT free. You are entitled to try it for a
    period of thirty days without doing anything. If you wish to continue
    to use it beyond that time, you must register it.
    To register it, please send a picture postcard (of any kind) to the
    address below. Please give at least your name and either email or
    postal address. Other comments are welcome! Those providing Email
    addresses will automatically be notified of new releases.
------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Version changes
    ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

    X.126:
        TDL now checks that it can actually find the application you
        selected for notes. If it cannot find it, it presents a dialog
        box for you to manually indicate which .EXE file to use.

        Added ability to use other editors for adding notes.

        Added ability (via Edit Item) to remove telephone numbers from
        items.

        Added ability (via Edit Item) to remove notes from items.

        Fixed bug whereby deleting an item with a note attached crashed
        TDL.

        Fixed bug where "Display items entered today" would periodically
        reset to show to do items.

        Date format in to do list now reflects date format set via the
        Control Panel (International section).

        One or two miscellaneous internal bugs fixed.

    Laurie,

    If your giving feedback to Keith, then I liked his install procedure.
    Asking which group to install into is a nice friendly touch.

    Cheers,

    Greg
