| It's OK, the one thing that concerns me is that people might think
'TT' (as in 1,1) stands for 'Thomas Tank'.
OBJECTworks lets you assign different button bars to different
compound objects. Why not have different button bars for different
TDLs... i.e, if I open my Thomas TDL all my buttons will be Thomas
buttons, if I open my work TDL I can have a different set of buttons,
if I open my outer space TDL I can have another set of buttons, etc.
How about split screen TDLs, i.e Thomas TDL in one window, work TDL in
another.

| Need some agreement/argument over one thing.
X.116 will support - amongst other things - alarms and multiple
databases. I'd like some agreement or alternate suggestions over how to
implement the automatic loading of multiple databases. Currentyl it
works like this:
If a database is specified on the command line involking TDL, it is
loaded (eg, C:/PROGGIES/TDL C:/DATA/MYTDL.DAT loads MYTDL.DAT as a
database). Sorry, can't do backslashes in eXcursion for some
reason.
If no datafile is specified on the command line, then TDLDATA.DAT
in C:/ or TDLFILES if defined is loaded. If a datafile is specified
on the command line, TDLDATA.DAT is only loaded if it exists (ie,
it is not created).
Proposal:
TDLDATA.DAT will always be loaded unless /N is on the command line.
Multiple databases can be specified on the command line with
individual /D qualifiers, eg:
TDL /N /D=C:/data/tdl1.dat /D=m:/tdl2.dat
(the /D is a forward slash, the dirs are backslashes)
Does that sound practical? Suggestions?

differently be better ?
Or perhaps a suffix/prefix/type of record on each line, stored in the one
database, which could be selected as a display option ? i.e. Display
(P)ersonal, (W)ork or (B)oth ?
What will happen when your home one says phone the Gas Board at 11:00 and

I don't like the idea, and I do realise I don't have to use it, of having
more that one database.

| .40Wouldn't using the same database, but perhaps colouring one type of entry
.40differently be better ?
How many colours can you have??? I'm already using three. You can do
this today using priorities...I don't understand any argument AGAINST
multiple databases; like you say, you dont have to use them. I'm merely
seeking a syntax for supporting them.
.40What will happen when your home one says phone the Gas Board at 11:00 and
.40unfort. you're at work ?
Then the alarm will go off (if the database is open). Alarms respond to
all databases, not just the one displayed. The implementation at the
moment (on my development version) is that all databases opened are
displayed by name under the File menu. The currently displayed database
has a check mark (tick) by it, and the current db can be changed from
that menu.
.40I don't like the idea,
I accept you may not want to use it (who DOES use all the features of
TDL???), but do you have anything against it per se?

Yes. It seems unnecc. complex to have more files. From the trivial - you have
to remember their names/location to the one more file to lose/delete/etc.
