154.0. "Why does Jan-1980 appear on certain inquiries?" by CINEMX::WLODYKA (LAUREL WLODYKA DTN 269-2279) Wed Jan 18 1989 10:44

While checking out the latest release of F/MIC (1.55), I encountered
data inconsistency with certain inquiry screens. It seems that
if I try to inquire on an invalid part (HSC50A%) and then a valid
part (HSC50AA), the data displayed is for Jan-1980.

Specifically, I accessed PP10 from the menu, and entered:
      1. HSC50AA for Nov-1988 on F at TD level in Units (Ship Plan)
         for USAU (Revenue) in USA.

Data displayed was 0's for Nov-1988 to Aug-1989.

      2. Attempted to wildcard HSC50 parts with HSC50A% for Nov-1988
pass on F at TD level in Units (Ship Plan) for USAU (Revenue)
         in USA.

Message displayed was "A query was executed which resulted
in no records being read. Check query-by-example values and
         try again."

      3. Again tried HSC50AA for Nov-1988 on F at TD in Units (Ship
Plan) for USAU (Revenue) in USA.

Data displayed was 0 for Jan-1980. Why Jan-1980?

I tried the same sequence of actions on the OD8 screen, and received
    the same results.

--> Why the difference in results between action 1 and 3?

--> Also, how do I wildcard parts? Am I using the wrong screens
         or the wrong keystrokes?

    Hi Laurel!

I don't have the answers to all of your questions, but I do
have information regarding wildcarding. Please refer to NOTE 158
    for "WILDCARDING INSTRUCTIONS".
