READY TO TEST LOAD INTO THE CSSE DATABASE (A SOMEWHAT POSITIVE MESSAGE FOR A CHANGE) ---------------------------------------------------------------------- On the whole downline loading seems to be going well. Just minor problems to date which should not have any critical impact. 1. For some reason, no matter what I name the file on F/MIC, during the copy it converts to the prefix of Pattenden with the right extension. From: ORCHRD::ORCHRD::ORCHRD::FTSV "13-Dec-1988 1347" 13-DEC-1988 13:46:14.98 To: PATTENDEN CC: Subj: FTSV Job 459 (FTSV_0459) finished at 13:47:10 COPY/NOTIFY=MAIL=NM%PATTENDEN REF05:[COPTEST.PATTENDEN]MASS1.NONREV CSSE::PATTENDEN %SYSTEM-S-NORMAL, normal successful completion [FTSV Version V2.1-001] This will show up as PATTENDEN.NONREV 2. The "DT" on both Revenue and Non-revenue files is "SHP". I have to change the "DT" on the Non-revenue file to "NRS" before running the program which loads the file into the CSSE Database. (This takes about two minutes and would just be a "wish list" change). I then merge the two files into one because we subtract Non-revenue from Revenue. 3. The "SINK" is slightly different from the DEC 10, but we should be able to work around that. 4. The "Part Number" is no longer prefixed by CH or MD, but again that should not cause us any problems. (That's easy for me to say because I'm not the programmer). Comparing the DEC 10 with F/MIC, the ship count is extremely close on the products that I have checked. I feel that we are now at the point of being able to load a test file into the CSSE Database (probably some time next week). I will have our users start testing the data and hopefully all will go well. They do some pretty heavy analysis and have no mercy.

1. With respect to the file being renamed always to PATTENDEN.XXXXX we are looking into the issue and we will get back to you as soon as we have an answer. 2. The COPIS DEC-10 had a datatype called "NRS" (non-rev shipments). However on the VAX there is only a datatype SHP and non-rev is simply a particular cut of this datatype. The data extract process will only put "SHP" (the valid VAX datatype into this field). 3. The "MD" ,"CH", or "TP" were DEC-10 designations that were strung into the partnumber in the extract. The VAX doesn't use these concepts and hence this 2 beginning bytes of the partnumber field was always blank. I don't think that your programs were using this 2 bytes but if they were, get back to us and we can discuss it. Russ Ganz - glad to hear that the numbers are tying off ok and I hope that your testing goes well |
