131.0. "Problems Encountered in Training Today" by HBO::LABBE (Julie Labbe DTN 269-2186) Wed Dec 07 1988 12:40

Ran into a few problems during training lab this morning.

1)

A user (using TRAINING5 account) was in the IN3 screen and asked
for DEMSA, for Sep-1988 (remaining fields left blank). The
system went off searching for 5-6 minutes, at which point the
trainee did a CNTL C - nothing happened, so she did a CNTL Y -
nothing happened, so she tried several more (3-4) CNTL Y's but
still nothing happened. I finally had her BREAK out and use
another account.

2)

We tried doing an extended query - using screen PP11 and
following criteria:

Part ID (Here we did an extended query -
         Command: CONTAINS '630QE')
Pass Date: Jul-1988
Month/Quarter: M
Execution Period: Feb-1989
Level: FA
all other fields blank

We got a response with numbers and showing that there were four
screens of information. Simultaneously, however, we got an
error message:

"The 'execute query' command could not be performed here...."

At that point, everyone was stuck in the error message. A RETURN
did nothing - a CNTL C gave an interrupt message but a RETURN at
that point returned us to the "execute query" message. CNTL Q
would not bring us out of the screen. A CNTL Y did bring us to
the previous menu.

3) While doing the above "extended query", one trainee
mistakenly used parenthesis instead of quotes (ie. Command:
CONTAINS (630QE). The system did go off and search, then
came back with the same error message but with only one screen
of data and that had zeros. No indication that parentheses
were wrong.

4) in the PD6 screen:

    Agg Name: VT240
    Exec. Period: Q3 F88
Level: TD (also tried FA with same results)
    All other fields blank

Response indicated zero ships but did give plan numbers. We were
using the training database which contains OTD infor from January
thru Sep. There should have been data.

5) Ship Plan split by So/IO Summary Level (can't remember
mneumonic):

Agg Name: VT220
Pass Date: Oct-1988
MonthQuarter: F
LEvel: TD
remaining fields left blank

Result: all zeroes. Again, we were using training database
which contains Ship Plan data from Jan 88 thru Oct 88 passes.
There should have been data.

Julie, regarding item 5, VT220 is not charted (I too thought it
was), try it at the FA level...tom malomo
