While trying to log in to the vax this am at 11:55, a message flashed on the screen from Margaret Rosene. I thought that was very unusual and attempted to hold and print the screen. That did not work. I then got the following: -RDMS-F-MONSTOPPED, database monitor process is being shut down %RDB-F-SYS_REQUEST, error from system services request This error message is repeated several times. What happened? Thanks, Carol

Carol, I can't answer about the message from Margaret, but as to the Rdb-related problem: At around that time, System Management here at ICO attempted to apply some patches to the RDMS image. This process tried to stop the RDMS Monitor (which is the traffic cop for Rdb/SQL requests). Since you are using the NEW menu for FMAP, it tries to access an Rdb database upon login to find out information about you, and your menu selections. This is why you kept getting the error message (probably because I wasn't getting a good error in the program). The fix to this is to have System Management do this when the users aren't active. /ken |
