72.0. "Billto code questions" by ELIS::HOOG (On error then RTFM) Fri Feb 17 1995 11:00

Here are some questions about the billto code:

    - if we send to TPAS a transaction for a billto code, which is not
known in TPAS, we get the return status "%APPIX-F-SQLRDBERROR, SQL".
This is a bit odd because this failure return status more or less
indicates a general error, whereas we would expect a more specific
error (something like "%APPIX-F-INVLDBLLTO, Invalid billto code").
Could you change TPAS to give a more specific error if the billto
      code is not known?

    - what is the status of the TPAS database you have given us for
testing? Some people here are getting worried because a number of
billto codes in our local database are not known in the (test) TPAS
database. Will the database used after implementation contain more
      billto codes?

    Thanks,
	Andr

I will look at this to see why a generic message was sent
back. It could be that the specific error was undefined in the
message library. I will check and post it to the SPR.

I cannot tell you how many of the sub codes were added or where
they are in the process. I believe all the sub-codes from the IRF
were added, but I am not sure. You can do an SQL to dump the SUB-Codes
off the TRNSFR_AREA_TABLE and let me know what you find missing.

The test tables that you have contain more or less the Bill To Codes
that were in effect last October on the IRF. We will be able to update
all of the tables over the next few weeks with the current data.

Can you provide me with a source of the Bill To Codes you are looking
for. I am concerned that there are Bill To Code that are not being
    referenced by the IRF.

When I find the time I will make a list of all the billto codes on our
database, which are not known in TPAS. For those billto codes I will
also try to find out whether they have been used recently.
Unfortunately I am a bit busy at the moment trying to get our test
system to work properly so the users can start their usertest. After
this I will spend some time on making this billto list (probably early
    next week).

72.4DMS billto codes with no information on TPASELIS::HOOGOn error then RTFMMon Feb 27 1995 05:5947
I have made a report showing all billto codes on DMS, which do not
exist in the transfer area table in the TPAS$DB database (see after the
page-break). This report is based on DMS data from the DMS database
from Friday the 24th February 1995 and on the latest TPAS database.

The report shows that 16 DMS billto codes are not known in TPAS. Three
of these DMS billto codes (2421, 2445 and 2637) have been used recently
(i.e. within the current fiscal year). All the other billto codes seem
to have been inactive for a couple of years.

	Andr

I have looked up the three codes you have shipped to in the past year.
The following is my finding on the "active" Bill To Codes:

Customer number 0002421 is Galway Manufacturing. All of manufacturing
was set up as shipments between Plant Nmemonics, Stockroom Data or
Transfer Area Code. I was not aware that there were shipments into
Manufacturing using Customer numbers. If DMS requires the Bill to Code
for a manufacturer please let me know as soon as possible.

Customer number 0002445 is Turkey, looking at our data here it is on
the table. For whatever reason it is missing on your copy I'm not
sure. However, you can expect it when we release the current tables.

Customer number 0002637 is Poland, shipped via the Netherlands. There
is another Customer number for Poland, 0002498. Customer number
0002498 is on the current tables. Can you verify that you still need
to ship to Poland via the Netherlands? It is easy enough to add
    Customer number 0002637 if needed.

As for the other 13 codes, I can put up the codes if they are going to
be used. However, the tables are quite large and I do not want to put
up anything unless it is required. Please let me know what you will
need as soon as possible so we can accomodate.

I guess I owe you an apology. For creating the billto mismatch report I
used the TPAS tables on our usertest system. Someone just told me that
they have removed 0002445 from TPAS on the usertest system manually to
be able to test a certain situation. This means that 0002445 shouldn't
have been on the mismatch report.

About the other ones: I will forward your questions to the proper
business people and send you their answers the moment I've got them.

72.7Please add billto 0002637 to TPASELIS::HOOGOn error then RTFMTue Mar 07 1995 09:3546
After the page-break follows the (business) answer on the billto codes
question. The only one to be added to TPAS is 0002637.

Subject: RE: DMS/TPAS billto codes

Andr,

I've checked the validity of the 16 'Bill to Codes' on our DMS system.

Please inform Tracy Walker to add only the following 'Bill To Code' to
the TPAS2 table :

0002637 Digital Equipment Partscenter (Agency Office)

This code is used to bill Nijmegen for shipments to Agencies (a.o those
in Poland). Nijmegen subsequently bills the end-customer (agency).

Code 0002445 (Turkey) is already on TPAS, as we discovered.

The other 14 codes you mentioned don't need to be put up.

Code 0002493 (Rebilling) should perhaps stay on our local DMS system for
reference purposes. The remaining 13 codes should be removed from DMS to
avoid future usage.

Regards,
Alko
