62.0. "Transfer Area/Stockroom reference changes?" by TROOA::BCAMERON (Bob Cameron, dtn 631-7431, Tea?) Thu Jan 26 1995 16:31
Hi Lois,
As part of our initial testing, we have noticed that the SHIP_TO stockroom
we had thought was a Sales designated Stockroom (796), actually links back by
the Plant Mnemonic to transfer area KAO, which is of Business type code MFG.
This is preventing the use of the NOR database for our MFG to Sales transfers,
as these transfers are currently viewed by TPAS to be of the MFG to MFG type.
There does not appear to be any 'SAL' business type transfer areas, or
Stockrooms listed on the TPAS databases for Canada at this time.
I believe to correct this, we will need to add a new Transfer Area, which
is designated as a 'SAL' Business type code, and either call this directly as
the BILL_SHIP_TO code, or link the 796 stockroom to this new Sales Transfer
area, and continue to use the 796 stockroom.
As an aside, I believe our Logistics people would like to update our
stockroom 796 info regardless, as it appears to have some obsolete information.
Q1. From the Functional Design, it appears Corporate Tax maintains the Transfer
area table. Is there a formal process to update it through Corporate
tax? How should we go about it? It doesn't look like the Excluded Module
includes the ability for local Tax to update Transfer Area? I would like
to get this change in for the next version of the transfer area table.
Q2. Also, can you point us toward the right people to correct the corporate
Stockroom reference data to update our 796?
Q3. Is the NOR database use turned on for use in TPAS, so we'll use it once
we sort out the Stockroom/Transfer Area designations?
Q4. Is this the best approach, or do you suggest an alternative?
thanks in advance, Bob C

Bob,
What drives the use of a NOR as a base price is the pricing
record found on TPAS$DB.PRICING_TABLE. The Key to this
record is
PART_CLASS
PART_BASIC
PART_VARTN
TPAS_PRODT_TYPE_CD
BUSNS_TYPE_CD
EFCTVY_DATE
Corporate Tax will define what parts will use the NOR as the
base price by setting these fields and the PRCG_TRNSFR_PRCG_CD = 'N'.
What you suggest is correct, but it may mean that other sites
shipping into Kanata Stockroom 796 would end up shipping into
SAL which may not be what COrporate Tax wants.
The stockroom data is received direct from Corporate Cost Accounting.
We add no value to it, except to put it into an RDB database from
the RMS File.

You work directly with Corporate Tax, Barbara Wilfand or Tracy
Walker to set up new or change existing transfer areas.
Stockroom 796 is owned by Plant Mnemonic KC. This data is set
by Corporate Cost Accounting.
Corporate Tax then takes the Plant Mneumonics and places them
into Transfer Areas with Business Types. They have placed
Plant Mnemonic KC in Transfer Area KAO with a Business Type of
MFG.
If Plant Mnemonic KC is not part of KAO MFG then speak with
Corporate Tax to let them know that this Plant Mnemonic should be
in a different Transfer Area with a different Business Type.
>Q2. Also, can you point us toward the right people to correct the corporate

Contact Diane Nickson on MEMIT or Don Shea on POWDML, either of
them should be able to help you in updating the stockroom information.
>Q3. Is the NOR database use turned on for use in TPAS, so we'll use it once
> we sort out the Stockroom/Transfer Area designations?
Currenctly there are no pricing records that have an 'N' in the
PRCG_TRNSFR_PRCG_CD set to N. If you just want to do a quick test
set up a record on the TPAS$DB.PRICING_TABLE with this field set to
'N'. Just make sure that you don't use it for production.
Corporate Tax is still analyzing the NOR data and have not yet
made any decisions.
>Q4. Is this the best approach, or do you suggest an alternative?
Your approach is correct.
