Has anyone had any experience using a Maxtor MXT540s 540 MB SCSI-2 disk drive off a KAV30? Customer is getting intermittent "drive not ready" errors. Running VAXELN V4.4. Happens on all 10 systems so not likely to be a hardware fault. I suspect the official word is "not supported" but any opinions on whether or not it should work?

Hi Mike, You are correct, the Maxtor MXT540s drives are not supported by VAXELN, and therefore not supported for the KAV30. I would suggest you read the note 132.* stream. It will probably give you the info you require. Regards John Cushnie. | |||||

Hi Mike, unfortunately the DEC SCSI implementation (and especially the ELN class driver...) is not compliant with *all* devices out there - but it works for all specified DEC drives... We have solved the problems of the customer in note 132.* by modifying some of the code, we can do the same for your customer, but: 1. we need his disk to analyze the problem 2. someone has to pay for this If this would help your customer, send mail to EICMFG::KAV30_SUPP. regards, Thomas |
