32.0. "State of the backup battery at initial startup
" by GOBANG::LEMMER () Fri Oct 18 1991 13:48
Several customers reorted that the KAV30 is stuck at 3/5 on
initial power up - this is an effect of the battery circuitry:
o The KAV30 module will be shipped with the backup
battery disconnected, therefore it is necessary to set
the jumper correct prior to the first power up sequence
(see Hardware Installation and Users Information
(AA-PEYAA-TE) and the KAV30 Hardware Release Notes
(AV-PJRKA-TE) which are shipped with each module).
o The first power-up sequence after modifying the battery
jumper will stop at test 3. The upper LED on the front
panel will show a '3' and the lower LED a '5'. If
you have connected a terminal it will display the
following:
E..D..C..B..A..9..8..7..6..5..4..3
This is the indication that no battery was connected
during the last power-down cycle.
o Now you have to turn off the power and turn it on
again. The battery circuit will sense that there was a
battery connected during power off and therefore the
power-up diagnostic will not stop at test 3.
A note will go into the hardware release notes to clarify this.
