16.1No VMEbus ASSETS catalog, but many partnersEICMFG::KETTNERMon Jul 01 1991 18:3019
    Aldo,

    there are no VMEbus assets tools/drivers for VMEbus boards available yet.
    The current approach to get VAXELN drivers for VMEbus options used with
    the KAV30 is through the identified partners. These partners have been
    announced recently (MAY 91?) in the European Sales Update, including the
    area of expertise. Some of these partners have already a support schedule,
    like PEP Modular Computers and CES, some others still lack the equipment
    and training. However, if you have a certain need for a VMEbus device
    support, call the partners for the VMEbus device catalog, select the
    device you want and ask for the VAXELN device driver delivery. This
    stimulates the business. If you need some top level support and latest
    information about the partners, call Wolfgang Eisenbarth DTN 773-3247,
    or send a mail to EICMFG::EISENBARTH.

    Sooner or later we may issue a list of supported VMEbus devices in this
    notesfile.

16.2Suggested Notes-Catalog organizationCESARE::OLOBARDIMarco - Tech.OEM Mktg - ItalyWed Jan 22 1992 12:0425
    Erwin,

    	I would like to make a proposal about the organization of
    the drivers realted info, when it will appear in the notesfile.

    For easyer selection, I would like to see the following

    A BASE NOTE FOR EACH PARTNER, with business info (dimension,
    people, what they can do..) and logistic information (address,
    phone, fax, list of distributors in other countries)

    A REPLY FOR EACH BOARD supported by a VAXELN driver, with any
    specific info about board or driver functionality
    TITLE for the reply should start with BOARD CODE and short description
    Ex: KAV30 - VAX CPU 2.7 VUPS, VSB, Eth., 4-16MB RAM, SCSI

    This way, simply using the DIRECTORY Notes command, it is possible
    to have a sort of Catalog. Easy to scan and update.

    I would also suggest to reserve a chunk of contiguous notes numbers,
    if this will be implemented, estimating the potential partners.
    I used a similar organization in another notesfile, and this proved
    some usefulness.
    Ciao
