| I am not sure what is available for literature , but it is important
to remember that Euclid consists not only of the solid modeler but
many powerful application packages like sheet metal and mold technology.
We have found that a great deal of design work is done in the
application packages since they are much faster at generating certain
types of geometries.
So far we have been able to create any sheet metal , plastic or
casting design we like. Currently the limatation on designs is
the number of links [ 64,000 ] in the boundry representation [ BREP].
We have not run across an individual part that breaks the BREP but
it is extremely easy to break it with assemblies. We have to do
a lot of geometry reduction [ reduce detail ] on assemblies to avoid
running out of links.
There are several proposed fixes from Matra but the only one available
today is " Large Scale Visualization " which allows creatation of a drawing
of vertually any level of complexity , but does not allow a full
data structure to be created.
Thanks Charlie
