8.0. "EUCLID - FEA solvers interface" by CURIE::RAMGIRI () Tue May 09 1989 18:29

Hi,

Recently we started working with Euclid FEM module. Our basic idea is
to use Euclid as the Pre-Processor and use ANSYS and NASTRAN in the
solution phase. This process isn't looking that straight forward,
because, all Euclid does is transport your geometry definition without
any loads and material properties, that means you have to use the FEA
solvers to define the material properties, element types and loads etc.
This boils down to the fact that you don't just go directly to the
solution phase, you still have to do Pre-Processing within ANSYS. We
are digging out more facts in this scenario but in the mean time is
there any body who would like to explain more about this application ?.

The second question is:

I am trying to use ANSYS as my FEA tool, when I used ANSYS interface
option from Euclid, it created an ASCI file with node and element
definitions in my sys$login (thank god it isn't another .BDU).
This is like FILE18.DAT if you are familiar with ANSYS.
The question is how do I use this file, ANSYS looks for FILE16.DAT as
its input which is a binary, and it creates these FILE18's when you are
using keyboard as your input device, which are of no use (might be of
use which I don't know). Is any body familiar with this ?

Thanks ...

According to Matra, NASTRAN II is available for 'basic' analysis
without exiting from Euclid. If anyone has tried it, please post
    your opinions...
