7.0. "Euclid on 3520/3540?" by 60666::FERGUSON () Mon Apr 24 1989 02:11

    Hello there fellow Euclidians.

    My name is Barry Ferguson and I am the Industrial Sales Support
    Manager for SPR based in Melbourne Australia.

    We have been working with the Australian distributor for Euclid
    for approximately 12 months now and are starting to make some positive
    inroads into the Australian CAD/CAM/NC market place with 2 customer
    sites operational and a number of others about to come on line before
    the close of FY89.

    Unfortunately,due to the tyranny of distance,news sometimes can
    take a long time to filter down to us.

    Can anybody provide an answer to the following ?

    Have any of you seen or worked with Euclid on the 3520/3540 ?

    If so,I would be interested to read of your observations and comments.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Barry.

7.1Euclid on a FirefoxCUBICB::BARKERMon Apr 24 1989 18:2314
    We have a Firefox here but ran into a small glitch in that Euclid only
    runs under VWS [ DEC windows is coming soon ] and firefox only runs
    under DECwindows [ no VWS support]. We are trying to get a backdoor
    copy of VWS that runs on a Firefox. Matra was to demo Euclid on a Firefox
    last week with a partial DEC windows interface.

    I am seeing Matra tomorrow and will report the status.

    Today we are running GPXs client-server on a 6260 soon to be a 6460
    and it runs great just using thge GPX for display. The only
    disadvantage the GPX is no dynamic rotation of shaded images.

    Thanks Charlie

    Hello Charlie and thanks for the quick response.

    I look forward to hearing from you after your visit to Matra.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Barry.

7.3More on FirefoxesCUBICB::BARKERWed Apr 26 1989 08:1811
    I talked to Matra yesterday and their plan is to support Firefoxes
    by the end of May. The inital support will have the PHIGS graphics
    interface but probably not the full XUI environment with all the
    pretty new icons.

    The software is being done by the US group and we are high on their
    list to get a copy. I will post a note when we get it and have it
    running.

    Thanks Charlie

    I'm just curious, is Euclid using Phigs to do it's graphic work?

7.6Euclid and PhigsCUBICB::BARKERFri Jun 02 1989 18:228
    There is a version coming over the summer that will support
    firefox that utilizes Phigs and part of windows . The initial offering
    will retain the existing feel of Euclid . Matra's plans are to migrate
    to the windows look and feel over time.

    Today Euclid is VWS based and runs fine under 3.3 and 4.0 .

    thanks Charlie
