193.0. "ALPHA ? Mailbus V.3.3 ? Open VMS 6.0 ?" by SUOSWS::MOOG (ute_moog at suo) Thu Dec 02 1993 14:51

    Hello,

out of the problems we ran into when loadng DDS on the same cluster
that MR/MEMO runs on (that we still experience once in a while...),
the customer is looking into the possibility of having a dedicated
    Mailbus server.
They think of an ALPHA Open VMS platform.
Will MR/MEMO be ported onto ALPHA Open VMS ?
Do we have any time frames, if yes ?

    Will MR/MEMo run against/with Mailbus V.3.3 ?
Any problems known with Open VMS 6.0 ?

A lot of questions ... and hoping for answers..
    Ute

Are you aware that MIG has said that out of the MAILbus product set,
only MRIF and the DDS access routines will be ported to Open VMS for
Alpha? This means that theoretically MRMEMO can be ported to Alpha but
your actual MAILbus system will have to continue to run on a VAX. Will
this help solve your problem? I think not.

Probably not, no plans, no funding, we are willing to do the job if
    someone provides the money.

Not tested, no known reasons why it shouldn't work.

    cheers,
