190.0. "MRMEMO stuck due to gateway problems" by RULLE::KLASSON (Sven-Olof Klasson @GOO) Fri Oct 22 1993 10:35
Hi,
At a customer MRMEMO V2.1 has a couple of times gone into a state were it
can't be controlled by MRMMAN. This is triggered by SNA Gateway problem
(which obviously can't be blamed on MRMEMO).
After a while the MRMEMO process get stuck in a state where it can't
communicate with MRMMAN. In this state there is no way to stop the process
from MRMMAN. The only way to workaround this is to STOP/ID the MRMEMO
process a start a new process.
The following messages are written to the logfile
%MRMEMO-W-NETPROBLEM, error communicating with manager program
-SYSTEM-F-NONETMBX, operation requires NETMBX privilege
It seems like the process has lost it's NETMBX privilege.
Any comments on this problem?

190.1 | A patch that might help | STKHLM::OLSSON | Anders Olsson, SIP Sweden | Fri Oct 22 1993 19:02 | 13 |
| Hi,
There is a patch that I just put in note 5.24 that might help. This is the
patch that solved the problem discussed in 174.0-3. I should have entered
it a long time ago but other things got in the way and... But now it's there.
The patch works well when the SNA/Gateway problem (-RSP) occurs once in a
while. The situation in .0 seems to be a little different. The SNA connection
seems to be out of order in some other way so the patch might be of less use.
Anyway - the patch could hardly make the situation any worse so go ahead and
install it.

190.2 | Patch sent to customer | RULLE::KLASSON | Sven-Olof Klasson @GOO | Fri Oct 29 1993 11:19 | 9 |
| Hi,
The problem that the patch in 5.24 fixes might be the same that my customer
suffers from. The logfile contains some SNA-E-SESIN_USE.
I have now copied this patch to the customer and he will install it.
It will take some weeks before I can say if the problem is solved or not.
