184.0. "Teamlinks to MEMO for Windows?" by YUPPY::CARTER (Windows on the world...) Thu Aug 05 1993 14:16

Does MRMEMO support attachments, eg AMIPRO, LOTUS 123 files etc.

We need to be able to send from a Teamlinks user to a MEMO for windows
    user.

The mail arrives, but the attachment seems to be lost.

    Regards

    Hi Christine,

The simple answer is "No it doesn't", and the behaviour of the product
    is what is expected.

I assume you want a transparent transport since the recipient is a PC
user (correct?). In that case you're out of luck because MRMEMO does
not support binary transfer at all. MRMEMO does support conversion (into
TEXT) of some of Digital's internal formats (WPSPLUS, DX, DDIF), but
none of the formats you mention.

If it's sufficient to provide binary->text conversions, this can be
accomplished with the MAILBUS Conversion Manager, provided you can find
converters for the formats in question.

We realise the long standing requirement for binary attachment support
in MRMEMO, but so far we have been unable to raise the funding to
implement it. Let me repeat that the MRMEMO support team nowadays
belongs to a group that deals exclusively with customer projects. The
MRMEMO support activities is (under)funded by the Assets group but no
development takes place unless explicitly paid for.

Realistically, the only way to achieve further functionality is to have
customers pay for the development. We have been approached by a couple
of customers who were interested but at the moment nothing is really
    happening.

    sorry to bring bad news,

    cheers,

    	Stefan
