Hi We desperately need to find out whether is is possible to synchronize MEMO and DDS directories in both directions. We are on site and have DSU, MRMEMO. We hope to install this next week. However, we don't know how to get information out of memo in a format we can use, adn we don't know how to get information back into memo, assumign that DSU produces a flat, fixed length record file. The customer has shown us the file that memo can output, it is a "Variable Blocked" file, which means that there isd not way of automatically finding out where fields begin and end. However, we believe we might be able to extract the relevant information from this file. The probelm is that we don't know how to write a file like this from the flat file that will be produced by DSU. Our assumption was that if the Memo Synchroizer asset synchronised in both directions then this problem has been solved. Or that there is some way to get flat files in and out of memo that we don't know about. Unfortunately the synchroniser asset is no longer... but perhaps we could get the relevant bits from it if necessary. We need an answer to this urgently as we need to prove this next week. Regards Christine

Hi Christine, I haven't got any documentation on this, but according to my reference material there is a publication called "MEMO Directory Interface Specification" (VM-0143). Hopefully the exact file formats will be specified in there. I suggest you call Verimation. Phone numbers (UK) 0252 816161 fax 0252 816117 Main Office Gothenburg +46 31 355500 cheers, Stefan | |||||

Re .1 Thanks for your response. It seems this is the document we need to get this working and we could ask the customer to get it for us. However, what we would like to do is to go to the customer with more information - particularly if we can use another customer as an example - i.e. this is how XXXX do this. To recap, the problem is not getting the information across, it is getting it in the right file format for MEMO on the IBM side. Thanks, Bruce. |
