Hello MR/MEMO user community. Now that it seems that MR/MEMO might need some reworking to inter- operate with MEMO V3.1, I'd like to try to get all of us to join forces to enable Stefan and Anders to convince their management that they should be given a few days to produce a MR/MEMO kit that includes some bug fixes etc that have cropped up and not been addressed by simple patches. My hope is that anybody who feels an urgent need for these sort of fixes would reply here together with some indication of the user/customer base influenced by the problem you report. My hope is that in this way we could "generate" say MR/MEMO V2.1A or something that would include V3.1 support plus fizes for those problems that Anders and Stefan manage to fix in whatever time they might be given. Anders and Stefan, if you don't like this approach of mine pls, feel free to "moderate" out this note! Regs, Hkan

86.1 | Dump when USERID missing | EEMELI::MITTS | back on the chain-gang,.. | Mon May 27 1991 15:23 | 31 |
MR/MEMO dumps and goes into an infinite loop of startup/die when a message entering from MR does not contain a USERID field in the addresses (apparently mainly in the bodypart). Error is annoying because 1) MR/MEMO does not process any messages after this occurs 2) the MRMEMO process to encounter such a problem eats tons of CPU-time 3) the process writes zilloins of lines of log filling up the disk where MRMEMO resides... Remedy : A missing USERID should not result in an error being signalled but instead the message being taken off the MR queue and a meesage logged to the console and the log file. An added bonus would be if the file would be stored as something.BAD in the MRMEMO directory. User affected : This problem occurs intermittently at least when interoperating with MRX, In Finland such installations are : The Finnish PTT (almost all finnish MEMO installations have acces to thsi service in Finland and a number of big companies do use it) The government data processing center (VTKK, several thousand users use X.400 over our solution).
