This has to do with the inability of our older Mail products to
generate Receipt Notifications. Rather than going into a lengthy
technical explanation, the following outline will have to do:
1) This will not work with ALL-IN-1 (classic) or MRGATE
2) This will work (with restrictions, see 52.1) with ALL-IN-1 MAIL
3) This will also work (in theory) with any User Agent that generates
proper Receipt Notifications. However, There are strong indications
that it's difficult to get to work over MRX. The V2.1 Release Notes actually
state that it doesn't work over MRX. This is streching it. I'll just
say that you shouldn't count on it working.
4) If you have enabled the (undocumented) switch /REQUEST=NORECEIPT,
then it won't work at all. This switch has been added in order to
disable the somewhat annoying ALL-IN-1 Read Receipts.
5) On the other hand, if you haven't enabled that switch, then ALL-IN-1
(classic) should send Text Form Read Receipts, and they will be presented
to the original MEMO Sender as ordinary messages. In other words this
is the ALL-IN-1 Read Receipts that we all know and love
As stated above, the problem is really with ALL-IN-1 (I assume that's
what you're using). The best solution is to urge the development of a
proper Message Router interface to that product as soon as possible.
More and more people are suffering from its inadequacies.
If any of the above is unclear, don't hesitate to say so.
cheers,
Stefan

Hello Stefan,
thanks for your answer, the problem occurs with VMSmail.
I did not realize that Memo is using REAL receipt notifications.
But I am very happy now, that I could convince my customer to buy ALL-IN-1
Mail because of it's DDS-support and because of it standard behaviour!
He has it installed already, we did our testing with VMSmail because the
product has not been delivered then.
I think this is a good answer to his problem and for the Memo-people.
Kind regards
Helene
