Hi, I've a customer who would like to address people in DEC from MRMEMO using an already active X.400 gateway. Needless to say they would like to use the most simple and "natural" way to do it, say: VAX.name__surname..DEC In fact this works fine, so what's the problem ? The problem is that to make it works we must disable the DDS lookup for the recipient in the direction MEMO --> Message Router, and in doing that we lose the capability to address a people in the VAX memo domain using the "a la MEMO" syntax VAX.user getting all the necessary route information kindly provided by DDS. Is this a false problem or should I actually decide to choose between the simple method of addressing X.400 recipient and a lot less user friendly addressing of the "VAX memo" recipient like VAX.userid..node..mrgate Any input on the subject appreciated. giovanni

38.1 | V2.1 will do it! | STKHLM::OLSSON | Anders Olsson, LEG Sweden | Thu Jun 21 1990 10:30 | 13 |
Hello Giovanni, In MRMEMO V2.1 (currently in field test) there is a new feature - address translation - which allows "soft" DDS validation. This will make MRMEMO lookup MR recipients in DDS as when using DDS MR recipient validation but if the recipient is not found, the message will be sent anyway (in the same way as happens today when DDS validation is not enbaled). A solution you could use today (MRMEMO V2.0/2.0A) is to set up two distribution ports in MEMO (e.g. VAX. and X400.) and use two MRMEMO servers - one with DDS validation and one without.
