Does anyone know of an SGML to HTML coverter that works? I'll be getting some files in SGML and need to convert them to HTML. Any pointers are appreciated! Kathy Woodward

er... HTML *is* SGML (or rather, it can be... :-) You would need to be more specific. What SGML DTD do the documents use? There are existing HTML converters for some DTDs (such as docbook). For others, there are tools available to create converters (such as OminMark and DynaWeb), but someone needs to define the rules that map tag-to-tag. --Andrew | |||||

Hi, Andrew: Yes, I know that the HTML and SGML are closely related, but getting from one format the next may be a challenge. I am getting files from Xerox in SGML format. I believe they are going to use the CDE DTD. Of course, if that DTD doesn't allow for easy conversion, I could request that they use another DTD. Thanks for the information you provided! If DCE is based on docbook (which is not unreasonable to assume is possible), then O'Reilly and Sons have an unsupported docbook-to-HTML converter. --Andrew |
