28.0. "Info for CDROM package..." by COOKIE::MILLER () Wed Oct 25 1995 11:22

Is anyone doing documentation that fits into a CDROM mailer?
The size of the mailer is about 5" x 5". Some of the information
we plan to distribute is on single sheets (separate part numbers),
and some of it will be written as a booklet.

If you have a Word template file, that would be useful.

Please let me know if you've had experience publishing and
packaging information for distribution with a CDROM.

    Hi Steve,

    You may want to contact Mary Orcutt (TNPUBS::ORCUTT). She's
    worked on CD booklets for the Web products and for the
    PATHWORKS product. Also, Phil Fotos (DONVAN::FOTOS) has
    done a lot of work on CD booklets.

    Beware! It's a rugged and thorny path, and it's often been
    a raft of production headaches, especially when it comes to
    merging the text and cover art.

Ron!  Hi!

Thanks for the pointers to those who've travelled the thorny path (haha).
I've been into Word, and it's no trouble doing a 4.75 x 4.75 page. We
are going to try to do separate cover art (one sheet), and three separate
inserts that will fit into the tabs behind the cover sheet.

As soon as I get my PC back (network probs--grrrr), I'll post the page
setup dimensions.

I'll also check with Mary and Phil.

Thanks!

28.3Setup Dimensions as Promised....COOKIE::MILLERIn the PostFuture-State @ CXOThu Nov 02 1995 11:2020

    The PC is back up. Here are the dimensions I used in MS Word, however,
it's my understanding that the CDROM vendors prefer Macintosh files. You
can still use these settings to see how many pages need to be manufactured
for your printed material.

Page size is	    4.7" x 4.7".
Top margin is	    .3
Bottom margin is    .3
Left margin is	    .5
Right margin is	    .1
Gutter is	     0
Header and footer are 0

    Try these to play with the formatting...
