41.0. "Header page won't say NO" by WORDY::L_HOLMES () Thu Aug 30 1990 11:12
How does one stop the header page from printing for a manual? I have a
manual that contains the necessary front material (front cover, title,
contents), preface, chapters, and appendix. I converted it to a .PS
file (one file for all of the above). When it prints, the header page
lists the various files that are included/that will print out (again,
all of the above). I am trying to stop the header page from printing
out but have yet been successful in trying to find where I would say NO
to header page in the printer properties. Since this manual is being
sent as part of a kit and is .ps, it cannot be broken into the X number
of files (I should say, it must be one file). I have looked at all
property sheets for the manual icon and frontmatter icon but it doesn't
contain PRINTER PROPERTIES. The first level that shows the properties
is when I actually go to the first file FRONT COVER. I have reset the
header page here but all of the header information as to what is included in
the printout STILL prints. I have deleted ALL other associated
versions of the .PS file.
Is there one place that will kill the header page info or must I kill
it on every single file ? (note that even after I said NO to the front
cover properties, it is STILL included in the printout header list.)
Is there a high-level property sheet/area that I am missing and would
take care of the header page?
Is there another method?
Danged if I can find it.......
Thanks. Larry

41.1 | one way to get rid of the header page | INTER::GILLHAM | | Fri Aug 31 1990 10:01 | 20 |
| Larry,
here's how I get rid of the header page (Betty Lew gets credit for
this)
1. Edit the .ps file and search for the following two-line string:
logme
headerpage showpage (it might say headpage instead)
Note -- these two lines only occur once in the file.
2. Put the per cent character (%) in front of each of the two lines to
comment out the lines.
That's it -- you're all set to print.

41.2 | another possible way too | LEAF::L_HOLMES | | Fri Aug 31 1990 12:24 | 5 |
| thanks. tried another method of going into each file - to the printer
properties page and saying NO for header page in EACH file. Took some
time but that also worked.
Thanks for your help.....Larry
