3.0. "Helpful Hints" by INTER::COLELLO () Mon Aug 28 1989 16:23

Please follow this basic set of rules when using NacLeaf:

- Avoid redundancy by reading the notes that already exist in the conference
   before adding a new note or a reply. Please put your NACLEAF commentaries
   in their *proper* Topics.

-  Think before writing.

- Use the conference as an application support tool. All of NaC Pubs will be
   reading it, allowing all levels of expertise to share helpful hints.

- Use keywords to find information and when adding notes to the conference.
   New keywords can be added on an as needed basis. Add a note or send mail
   to Leaf::Colello when you have an idea for a new keyword. Your input is
   welcome. To see the list of current keywords enter the command:

   NOTES>sho keywords

   To use the KEYWORDs to find entries on a particular topic, enter the
   command:

   NOTES>dir/keyword=keyword-name

- To set the NACLEAF Conference so that you can read and keep up
   with the latest Replies and Topics in NACLEAF, enter the command:

   NOTES>set seen/before=yesterday

   For more information on these commands refer to the Command summary
   section in Guide to VAX Notes on page 1-20.

- To learn more about KEYPAD commands, just press the PF2 key when
   in Notes. For more detailed information on Notes in general, enter the
   command:

   NOTES>help

- Write your commentaries clearly and precisely. Do *not* use ALL CAPITALS
   when writing; it is considered SHOUTING in Notes and is not
   appreciated by other Noters, unless you have a legitimate reason for
   being angry about something in the Notesfile. You may
   have your Note removed and returned to you so you may correct the error(s)
   if the emotional content of your Note is too strong, insulting to another
   person, generally unintelligible, and/or offensive.

Send any questions to LEAF::COLELLO.
