4.1Finding Other Notes ConferencesTNPUBS::ICENOGLEKathyThu Jan 18 1996 13:1819
To find other conferences, you can either look around in
the Easynet Conference Directory on TURRIS::EASYNET_CONFERENCES,

or search the list of conferences in the EASYNOTES.LIS file,
which contains basically the same info that is in the conference
EASYNET_CONFERENCES, but in a more concise format.

The EASYNOTES.LIS file is found at these locations:

    Location                  Fac    City
    --------                  ---    ----
    HUMANE::SYS$PUBLIC:       MRO    Marlborough, Massachusetts, U.S.

    ATLANA::SYS$KITS:         ALF    Alpharetta, Georgia, U.S.
    FUNYET::SYS$PUBLIC:       MRO    Marlborough, Massachusetts, U.S.
    HANZI::SYS$PUBLIC: HGO Beijing, People's Republic of China
    SNOFS1::NOTES$LIBRARY:    SNO    Sydney, Australia
    TKOV60::NOTES$LIBRARY:    TKT    Tokyo, Japan
4.2Can't access some notes conferencesSUPER::HIGGSMon Jan 22 1996 16:3012
    As a novice noter, I'm having trouble accessing several of these
    conferences:

    TRINTY::ADOBE_ILLUSTRATOR	File not found
    GEMVAX::RIDER::[DOCSTDS]	Invalid entry name ""
    COWPOK::POWERPNT		Remote node is unknown

    any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks,

    Lyn

Lynn,

As it turns out, you had problems due to incorrect pointers... I made
the mistake of not testing things out.

>     TRINTY::ADOBE_ILLUSTRATOR	File not found

	this should have been: TRINTY::ADOBE-ILLUSTRATOR (with a hyphen)

>    GEMVAX::RIDER::[DOCSTDS]	Invalid entry name ""

	I took this from another list.. as it turns out, I don't think it
	is a notesfile at all... or, at least I couldn't find a way
	to access it as a notesfile. I've moved the reference to the
	"online infobases" note, since what I found was a directory
	full of docs on doc standards... eg. (the Digital Style Guide)

> COWPOK::POWERPNT Remote node is unknown

	appears to be a problem of the node not being registered...
	I don't know if that's a temporary or permanent problem, but
	I did learn (by getting into TURRIS::EASYNET_CONFERENCES)
	that you can access this conference using the numerical
	node address... Try:  17088::POWERPNT

To reduce the likelihood of others getting misdirected as you were,
I edited note 4.0 to correct the info. (I'm not sure if that
was an appropriate way to deal with this, but it seemed like the thing
to do and I figured out how to do it.)
