Subj: FrameMaker Release 5.0 kits available for training
The Training Team "library" has two copies of the new FrameMaker (Release
5.0.) The software includes an excellent built-in tutorial. If you'd like
to borrow a kit to experiment with and learn FrameMaker, please contact Evelyn
[ORION::]McKay.

| Bob Govoni and I are signed up to be part of
the SES efforts to beta test a version of
Frame5+SGML... However, we are currently
waiting to get the software with a DTD built
into it... (See below.)
I believe the software referenced in 34.1 does not
have any specific SGML DTD built in. (Pls correct
me if I'm wrong... )
(FYI - DTD stands for Doc-Type-Definition... which
identifies the SGML tag set that is supported. If you're
talking about using SGML, you need to also talk about
which DTD you are using.)

Subj: Status on Frame5+SGML beta test
I know you have all been waiting patiently for the availability of this
software. Due to a severe resource shortage, we have not completed
the importing of our DEC DTD into this tool, and thus we cannot yet
release the software to you.
We are, however, beginnning to make progress. I will be providing
a further update next week. At that time I hope to be able to give
you a date for the availability of this tool.
Thanks for your patience.

Thanks to Kathy Haramundanis (SES Tools Support),
I now have a copy of FrameMaker/SGML with
DOCBOOK DTD installed on my PC... set up to run
from TNPUBS as an application server.
The purpose is to see how well FrameMaker/SGML
meets our SGML authoring needs.
If you're interested in seeing it, send me
mail at TNPUBS::ICENOGLE.
