Greetings,

As facilitator of the NSCC Tools & Technology Forum,
I volunteered to set up this conference... so, by
default, I get to be the moderator.

I am an information designer/developer, currently
working in the ObjectBroker business... When I found
myself running across questions faster than I could get
answers, I ended up volunteering to try and put some
focus on addressing at least some of the many common
tools and technology concerns that the group is facing.
Fortunately, I have found myself in good company in
doing that.

Kathy

I'm a writer in the PATHWORKS group, and one of the many people asking
questions. Most recently I have worked on creating multimedia tutorials
for display on PCs. A year ago I had no PC experience; now I feel like
I've had a lot of experiences and I am trying to make sense of them.

I'm delighted there is a tools forum because that is where most of my
questions lie. Is there a better tool to do what I am doing? Who else
has used a tool I am struggling with? What tools should I be learning
for future versions of my product?

Right now I am working with other PATHWORKS writers to decide what job
aids would help our group and author those that are not already in
existence or planned. What we are discovering is that there is a lot of
activity in this area. Things could go either way. We could spend a
lot of time reinventing the wheel, or we could connect with other
people with similar concerns, perhaps through this conference, and
share resources and solutions. I'm hoping that is what will happen.

Bob Govoni here. I'm currently the lead writer on POLYCENTER
EventCentral, and was the lead writer for the first release
of POLYCENTER Manager on NetView for Windows NT.

I'm an avid Robohelp user, and really enjoy the new Winhelp 95
features, in spite of the bugs!

I'm a writer currently assigned to the PATHWORKS product. I was a
member of a great team of folks who developed the PATHWORKS Information
Shelf, Versions 1 and 2. In Version 1, we used Doc-To-Help and RoboHelp
to create RTF files for the product, then compiled those files with
Multimedia Viewer 2.0 to create the first Shelf. The second shelf
followed a similar process, but in addition to Viewer, we had used a
Visual Basic browser to access documents. The Information Shelf
contains over 50 help files and online books, with access to demos
    and tutorials.

I'm presently involved with Winhelp 4.0, the new Doc-To-Help 2.0 and
the new RoboHelp 95, and a member of the NSCC Online Help Guidelines
    team.
