52.0. "WECOME and anyone in trouble?" by HYEND::KRISHNASWAMY (There is a divine providence in the fall of a sparrow) Thu Sep 10 1992 10:31

Well, somebody has to say it, Bill

"Welcome to the new, improved XWELL"

On a more somber note does anyone know of XWELLers who got the package,
or more importantly - are threatened? Perhaps some of us can help with
pointers that might help them save their jobs.

    Good idea? Bad?

You said it for me. I'm glad you were able to find it.

I know a few who SERPed (e.g. John Burroughs and Vee Sukikian, both of
whom had taken Honeywell's package five years ago) but I haven't heard
anything about XWELLers who were "downsized" recently. We DID lose a
    few the first time around.

I'll test the XWELL.DIS mailing list after the dust settles (maybe
there will even be something of interest to ANNOUNCE by then 8^). I'm
certain that a number of addresses will "bounce".

OK, I'll be the first to raise my hand to say my group is threatenend,
and I'd be very interested in any pointers to software engineering
    jobs!

Our group already went though one round of layoffs, and then got
funding for the next 6 months. We still have the funding, it's just
that our "sister group" in London wants it. (This group is a company
that Digital bought about 1.5 years ago, and they've been trying to
eliminate us ever since.) Talks are going on this week to try and save
our collective lives, but it does not look good. Unfortunately, their
management has always been alot stronger and more effective than ours.
We're pretty sure we know who's going to lose this fight.

I've been with this group for 5 years, and had planned on leaving
after this current release; we're porting to Ultrix and OSF/1, and I
wanted to stay a little longer, to broaden my skill base and learn
these systems. It looks like I may have stayed a bit too long!

So if anyone's looking for an XWELL ex-AEP, Sr Software Engineer,
I'd be interested to hear about it! Naturally, my resume is all
    up-to-date. :-)

    Thanks,
    Lynne (Ondek) Philpot
