43.0. "Alumni/Alumnae Get-Together at the Chateau" by RANGER::ROCKE () Wed Jun 19 1991 10:40

I received a flyer in the mail yesterday from Marty Greenfield,
announcing a gathering at the Chateau on Monday June 24th. The agenda
is 6:00 - 7:00 social, followed by Dinner (not preset, order from the
menu). It is described as "...It's been suggested that good friends
get together again at the Chateau to gossip, chat, and renew old
acquaintances." The headcount is being accumulated by those on the
following list, any of whom would like to hear by June 21st if you want
    to come:
    	Joan Passero	(617) 623-3865
    	Gordy Yates	(617) 275-3504
    	Sophie Dyshlivich	(617) 237-5462
    	Rick Corley	(508) 429-1652

I went to the previous one, and saw some of the really old hands from
Mod 800 days, and many others that I had not seen for some time: it
was an informal reunion that produced some familiar faces.

I went and had a fine time, though the ongoing Bull layoffs cast a pall
over the proceedings. There were about 30 of us, of which Dave Rocke
and I were the Digital component. Several, such as Rick Corley, have
been jobless for over a year. Bill Kinirey and the rest of the Field
Support group (including Mannie Cardoza and Chuck Corbett) were laid
off last Friday, as was Tony Booth's group. Fran Deary transferred
out of C&SP just in time to see it eliminated. It now looks as though
Bull is making little or no effort to find other jobs for long-term
good performers. Perhaps the winner is Margaret Flowers, who bailed
out a year ago and is enjoying staying home with her pets and being
able to travel with her husband.

It turns out that there are two such groups that each get together
once or twice annually. This group tends to be software engineering
alumni (a FEW are still at Bull); the other tends to be more hardware
oriented. If anyone has a point of contact for it, please post same.

I'll post the names from Marty's list (minus the additions/corrections
he received on Monday) in a separate note.

There has been a suggeston that we put together a semi-monthly or so
newsletter that could contain notes on any news about yourself or
others that you would send in to be spread about. Think about it. It
would take some volunteers to do the work. We'll try to explore this
at our Nov. 4 dinner. If you have any ideas or would be willing to
participate, be sure to let us know.

    					Best Regards,
