22.0. "only Bull (?)" by ULTRA::HU () Tue Jul 05 1988 11:16

      Honeywell Bull may drop the 'Honeywell' from its name at the end
      of the year. According to a company spokeswoman, Honeywell Inc.
      has the option of reducing its ownership of the firm to 19% at
      the end of the year. If this happens, as expected, the firm will
      probably drop the 'Honeywell" from the name.

      Honeywell would like to move corporate offices to Billerica, MA.
      Mid 1989 targeted. Needs to be voted on by Board of Directors
      and it's going to the board with senior management approval. The
      firm would consolidate its Waltham facility to Billerica building
      too. New building to be built.

 Honeywell - Reduces stake in Honeywell Bull
   Honeywell Inc. announced that, as specified in a March 1987 agreement
 forming the computer company Honeywell Bull, it has reduced its ownership in
 Honeywell Bull from 42.5% to 19.9%. The 22.6% stake was sold by Honeywell to
 Paris-based Compagnie des Machines Bull (Groupe Bull). Terms of the
 transaction were not disclosed.

    Once Honeywell's stake in "Honeywell Bull" is below the magic 20%
    threshhold, it no longer has to report HB income separately. (You may
    remember that Honeywell reduced its stake in Cii-HB to the same level
    at the time THAT company was nationalized by the French government.)

    In spite of a rumor that Honeywell Bull will be renamed something like
    "Bull HN", I fully expect the ultimate name WILL be "Bull" (period).

    Rumour has it that the new company will be called BULL SYSTEMS,
    this may only be a UK rumour, but as we all know .......
22.4Newco name, no bullDELNI::JONGSteve Jong/OMSD SW PubsTue Feb 28 1989 13:5614
    I heard a commercial last night with a whole series of words meant
    to apply to NewCo, words like DependaBULL, ReliaBULL, FlexiBULL,
    InterconnectaBULL (emphasis theirs)... you get the picture. Darned
    if I can't remember whether the name is now Group BULL or just BULL,
    but the corporate slogan is Know BULL.

    They seem to be challenging you to come back with a snappy word
    like terriBULL... It does stick in the mind. But I can't help
    but recall the inclement afternoon when my cubemate rose to leave,
    put on his coat, and donned a ridiculous tam-o-shanter cap. I looked
    at it and started to giggle tactlessly but helplessly. He drew
    himself up to his full height and said, with great dignity, "You
    know, some people would look foolish in a hat like this." I nearly
    split a gut.
22.5Know BULLULTRA::KINDELBill Kindel @ BXB1Wed Mar 01 1989 12:422
    The corporate name is "Bull HN".
    Its major US division is "Bull Worldwide Information Systems".
22.6Public GrafittiULTRA::KINDELBill Kindel @ BXB1Fri Mar 24 1989 09:367
    The big sign that faces I95/128 from 200 Smith Street still has a large
    Bull banner covering it in expectation of a permanent illuminated sign.

    As I came to work this morning, I noticed that some (presumably
    disgruntled) soul has filled the sizeable void between "Bull" and the
    tree logo. It now reads "BullSHIT" and has a smaller legend below the
    tree that I was unable to read in passing.
