6.0. "NewCo News" by DELNI::JONG (Steve Jong/NaC Pubs) Mon Apr 27 1987 12:02

    Perhaps this could be a repository for news of "NewCo."

    Last week, I heard that employees of Honeywell( )Bull are offered
    the opportunity to invest in the new company. A 5% return is
    guaranteed. [Commentary: I suppose more is possible, but I wouldn't
    expect it. This doesn't sound like a positive development to me.]

6.1Quality Changes?DELNI::JONGSteve Jong/NaC PubsMon Apr 27 1987 12:076
    The Quality Program at Honeywell has been redirected. Where quality
    once was formally defined as "conformance to requirements," it is
    now defined as customer satisfaction. That sounds, I think, like
    the Digital definition.

6.2Move news?EXODUS::KRISHNASWAMYMon Apr 27 1987 17:175
    Anyone know if our friends are moving (to Andover or other parts)
    or staying where they are? Last I knew, the move to Andover was
    cancelled due to stupidity and avarice on the part of the managers
    of the plant in Andover.

6.3Nothing recentULTRA::KINDELBill KindelMon Apr 27 1987 17:599
    I think a lot of the incentive was lost when Honeywell was unable
    to sell (and take advantage of the old capital gains handling of)
    200 Smith St by the end of 1986.

    It also seemed a bit odd to me that Bull would put up with such a major
    change in the value of the company it was buying into. Between that
    and some truly incredible estimates for the costs of setting up labs at
    Andover to replace the ones in Billerica (8 figures), the move faded
    rather quickly.

    They decided not to move to Andover when someone had the smarts
    to count the number of employees who would have a longer drive to
    Andover. When they counted (after announcing all this in the papers),
    they discovered that 70per cent would have to drive farther. I
    did not hear anything interesting about avarice--e Frankovich
