5.0. "References Needed" by ULTRA::KINDEL (Bill Kindel) Thu Apr 09 1987 17:19

    It should come as no surprise when a fellow Honeyweller's resum
    crosses the desk of a supervisor/manager with which we work and
    (s)he asks if we know the individual. There should be some way
    we, as Digital employees with Honeywell histories, can be of service
    without compromising the confidential nature of the situation.

    As a thought, I'd suggest using this note to solicit people who
    were in particular Honeywell organizations to contact (by phone
    or E-Mail) the manager who is evaluating a Honeywell candidate.

    	DO NOT REVEAL THE CANDIDATE'S NAME IN THE REQUEST!

5.1Help for a "potential XWELLer"?TSG::PHILPOTTue Oct 06 1987 11:5520
    This is sort of a "references needed in reverse" request. I got
    a call today from a senior software engineer at Honeywell (an ex-AEP)
    who is looking for a job. The catch is, he's looking for a job
    in sales, not engineering. He's tried to make the switch at HB,
    but "they're just not interested" in engineers. He asked me if
    I knew :
    	a) if DEC is hiring in the sales force (preferably in
    Massachusetts)
        b) any contacts (in sales or in sales-personnel) that he could
    get in touch with, send a resum, etc.

    I have every faith in this person's technical abilities, and I think
    he's got some good salesman qualities as well. I'd recommend him
    highly, but just don't know who to recommend him TO!

    Does anybody out there have any names, ideas, etc?

    Thanks,
    Lynne

    Re .1:

    I just picked up a copy of the "Jobs Book" in order to see what there
    might be for Lynne's friend. Just inside the cover is a sheet which
    directs the reader to the online "Jobs Book" which is available through
    VTX. I followed that and found several (though not many) openings in
    marketing and sales (which are considered to be separate). Frankly, I
    don't know what's what with regard to titles, so it would make sense to
    call the employment folks at the locations which are advertising the
    positions.
