Can some one tell me how to get a Fiscal Calendar for 1998 ? I used
to be able to get it via "vtx amtables".

5308.4are we getting short changed?HYDRA::SEGERThis space intentionally left blankThu May 29 1997 14:2111
I just printed it...

have I missed something or do we normally only get 7 vacation days? I seem to
recall that normally between 4-july, xmas and new years there were at least one
or more multi-days off. this calendar only shows one apiece.

such a shame as I recall the year I was hired we got 2 days for thanksgiving,
3 for xmas and 2 more for new years making a total of 7 days in only 5 weeks,
a feet not repeated since!

My Fiscal Calendar 1998 shows 9 holidays. That, coupled with a location
choice day and your personal day total the usual 11.

In fact, looking at VTX LIVEWIRE, I find that we get *nine* holidays in
FY98 in the U.S., (plus location choice and personal). Both Friday Dec. 26,
1997 and Friday Jan. 2, 1998 are scheduled to be holidays.

The downside is that there are scheduled to be only seven holidays in FY99.
It looks as if the number is fixed per calendar year, not fiscal year.

Holidays in the U.S. are not based on the fiscal year, but rather the calendar
year.

There will always be 10, including the location choice and personal days.

In many locations, the location choice becomes a second personal day.

And the algorithm is very simple.

First you take the two choice days.

Then there are the following Monday Holidays:

	Memorial Day
	Labor Day

Then there is Thanksgiving and the Friday after it.

Then there are Christmas Day, New Year's Day, and July 4th.

And one day the company assigns company-wide.

In any calendar year, it will always be obvious where to put the
company-wide holiday. Always adjacent to one of the other three
in order to make a long weekend.

It's really very simple, and there's really no variation.

If you are on a VMS machine which has Scheduler software installed,
then you can just do this command:

    		$ SCHED SHOW FISCAL_YEAR 1998

and to put the contents of the above command to a file:

    		$ SCHED SHOW FISCAL_YEAR 1998 /output=1998.txt

in the calendar pointed to by .3, neither dec 26 nor jan 2 are showed as
holiday. sigh...

    Re: .10

No it's _not_ bad data/dates, it's just that the author of .3 (and the
calendar refered to) is in Europe, any holiday dates on that calendar
would more likely be valid in France, as that's were the file is.

This notes conference is quite international, you need to make sure
that any data/information you receive here is valid in your part of the
    world.

I got this off VTX AMTABLES a few weeks back. I asked them at that
point about the .PS Calendar for the U.S. They said it would no
longer be available since that group was outsourced. This is the
.TXT Version.

It is not a big deal to change the .PS file to add national and
    location holidays..

Simply find the appropriate date at the bottom of the file. Following
each day is a letter that signifies it as a "normal" ("n") or
"vacation" ("v") day (weekends use "v"). Simply change the letter
"n" to "v" and print the file out.

You can also customize your copy to block out yor personal vacation
    days as well.

    Cheers,
    jeff
