Subject: Q4 Employee Forum DVN with Bob Palmer and Bruce Claflin, 5/6

 From: Jim Johnson, DTN 223-9230

The Q4 Employee Forum DVN featuring Bob Palmer and Bruce Claflin will be
broadcast live on May 6 at 11 am Eastern Daylight Time.

Specific broadcast times are as follows:

 		US (East Coast)	11:00am
 		US (West Coast) 8:00am
 		UK/Irl/Por	16:00
 		Europe 17:00
 		Fin/Ukr/Isr	18:00
 		Moscow 19:00

The final quarter of this fiscal year and FY 98 are pivotal in returning
DIGITAL to profitable growth, and this live employee telecast will help
set the stage for the challenges and excitement ahead. The DVN will
originate from the Latin America/Caribbean Territories headquarters in
 Deerfield Beach, Florida.

Following their comments about Q3 performance, the recently announced
organizational changes, and the heightened emphasis on growing the
business, Bob and Bruce will open the floor to questions from employees in
the studio audience and at DVN sites throughout the Americas and Europe.

In order to give as many employees as possible the opportunity to ask
questions, a DVN line has been established to record questions in advance.
The line will be open for an hour on Tuesday, April 29 at 11 am Eastern
Time, and for an hour on Wednesday, April 30 at 7 pm Eastern Time. Any of
the following numbers can be used to ask questions on April 29 or 30: DTN
227-4080, 800231-1718, or 508-952-4080. When prompted, please state your
name and location, and then ask your question.

A live call-in number will be displayed on the screen during the May 6
 broadcast.

 The Q4 Employee Forum DVN cannot be transmitted live to Asia Pacific;
however, videotapes of the broadcast will be made available as soon as
possible following the live broadcast. All employees in Europe and the
Americas whose schedules permit are strongly encouraged to attend the live
broadcast. For a listing of DVN sites please refer to VTX Livewire or
contact Kathleen Dooley Roche at DTN 223-9244 or 508-493-9244.

The Broadcast can also be accessed on a listen only basis in the US, for
employees unable to get to a DVN site. To listen to the audio feed,
employees can call 1-800-530-8983. The number of listening ports is
limited, so we ask wherever possible employees listen in groups using
 speaker phones.

not only do we have no DVN, we also do not have DTN and
    1-800-XXX numbers are US only.

Could Strategic Communications also publish an email address to send
DVN questions so the whole corporation can potentially participate in
    input to the DVN?

Hmmm... my directory lists Canberra (I think that's where BIGUN is) as
having DTN prefix 733. Are you saying you have no outgoing DTN access?

Besides, a normal US number is also given.

On the other hand, I agree, for non-US people, emailing questions would
    be much more practical.

Has anyone heard if there will be an Intranet feed (Real-Audio + synched slide

home page....

While we're at it, why not RealVideo? (guess that'd plug-up the network in a hurry)

Just wondering,

everything he's ever made at Digital, he'd still be a millionaire.

re .21-.23: Yeah, but but international calls are barred here. And it's
hardly cost-efficient for potentially thousands of Europeans to listen
to this (how long does it take?) using POTS.

Is there a written summary somewhere?

OTOH, if I'm not terribly mistaken, you _can_ call US 800 numbers from
UK (but it's obviously not free).

The original phone-cast (I used the dial-in and listen service Digital
offered during the telecast) was a solid hour, including Q&A. The Q&A
portion was a bit larger than the prepared segment, if I recall correctly.

    re: .24

Can't you get an international line via an operator? 800 numbers are
not "free", it's just that it isn't the caller that is charged for the
call. So if you call the international or the 800 number from a phone
at Digital, Digital will pay for it ether way...

    re .26:

Can't you get an international line via an operator?

Yes we can, but it's a pain... and mostly useless for business
purposes, because there are no operators around in the evening (when
it's daytime in US). Of course, it could work in this case - the
message didn't say whether the numbers are available 24 hrs a day.

Still leaves the cost factor - calling US from Germany is about 3 times
more expensive than calling Germany from US (probably around $1.5/min
    peak).

    re:20

I am happy that DIGITAL is finally getting around to providing an
alternate means to hear DVN's. I spend the majority of my time
supporting customers far from DVN sites, therefore I was able to listen
to Mr. Palmer describe the Intel suit and more important to hear Bruce
Claflin's plans for the new year. With only a 28.8 modem to my home
office, real audio links are out of the question. So this is a great
    alternative.

I hope this feature will continue with future DVN's along with the
opportunity to follow up with e-mail comments.

Looking forward to a great FY98!
