5255.0. "VTX PAK " by SWETSC::WESTERBACK (Panta rei) Wed Apr 23 1997 05:51

    Does anyone what's going on with ISPAK in VTX?

    We have always accessed it using FIND ISPAK or PAK in VTX.
    Since last week we get "That information is not available"
    but strangely a few times I have managed to get to first page
    (with badgenumber, cost center), then I'm just thrown back.

    Is some web solution in the works, as vtx as going away, at least
    at local level (well, this is at least the case here in Sweden).

    I tried the VTX to WWW Gateway on http://vtxgwy.imc.das.dec.com
    to see what happens, there I could get to the page, fill in badge
    number, cost center, but for location our SOO was not a valid choice.
    I tried sneaking in using DAS instead, and got some trick questions
    about my birth date, and hire month. Never had that before from plain
    VTX.

    Did I get into some other PAK this way, intended for US only? Has
    it worked this way before for US? I'm not sure if we normally get into
    another VTX page from here, but they both say "Internal PAK Generator
    (IPG V3.6)" on the first page. Or is the whole thing being redone right
    now, and us poor people in far-away lands not yet allowed in?

   VTX PAK has traditionally been restricted to North America -- don't
   ask me why, this is something that the territorial organizations
   would be better suited to answering...

   VTX itself is scheduled to shut down in a little over a year or so.
   (Some $500 per quarter charges are starting up, to "encourage" folks
   to move off VTX...)

ISPAK exists for Europe, I just accessed it using keyword ISPAK!

ISPAK in Europe also manifests the same behaviour mentioned in the base note.
I need to get a PAK for a product but when I select the option to request
a PAK in ISPAK I get the answer, "The information is not available" .

What the hell is going on ? Where do I get a PAK from ? What kind of a
fly-by-night outfit is this ? What a sorry state of affairs.

5255.5ISPAK is down, we are working on itSHOGUN::PHILPOTThu Apr 24 1997 20:2614

    ISPAK, the European implementation of VTX PAK, is down. We are
    working the problem and hope to have the application back up soon.

    In the meantime, if you have an urgent need for a PAK, please
    send your request with your badge, cost center, site code, and LMF
    name of the product you need to CISVAX::SYSTEMS_ENGINEERING. We
    will do our best to generate the PAKs for you in a timely manner.

    The US and AP implementations of VTX PAK are up and running.
