| according to www.tiac.net, The TIAC advantage page:
"We use superior hardware to maintain the best services, including
U.S. Robotics Modems and Silicon Graphics servers."
I didn't see mention of any Digital hardware...

Well.... I know my isp actually is using an alpha mail server and lately the
same thing has been happening to them. I got one message a few days after it
was sent. I guess maybe Exchange isn't the problem we are having here at
work... it is the Alpha Servers that are holding up the mail! :-)

| My ISP (Ultranet) uses AlphaServers and Digital UNIX, and has had no problems.

| There have been lots of folks involved in the TIAC situation - there is
a write up on what went on there - which can be sent on request.
DIGITAL support and engineering has gone out of their way to help out
here. It smells like a problem with ADVFS, but it could very well be
rev levels of hardware. TIAC is running mail on DIGITAL UNIX now, and
is testing another large server to take over the web farm business now
running on SGI. DIGITAL currently has over 200 ISPs that use ALPHAs to
run their business. At any one time, there are half a dozen or so
customer that are having serious problems, so we know everthing is not
clean as it should be. News in general, ADVFS issues, and ASE
clustering are the biggest trouble spots. It is however nice to see
the various support and engineering organizations dedicate themselves
to do "what ever it takes"...

Would we please refrain from bashing ourselves unless and until some facts
are presented, and then use them to help solve the problem instead of possibly
compounding it?
Sheesh,
Pete

| Glen, yes, I did. I guess I have to look harder for the rare
smileys in here.
Sorry,

Well, if Pete had added a smiley to the end of his note we wouldn't
have seen it because it probably would have been somewhere around
column 88.

| Sorry, and I won't blame the software. I believe I have corrected the
problem so that all may see every character of what I contribute to
the general store of knowledge and understanding.
