| ...I must agree with .0. I consider the action of write-locking the topic
to be high-handed and arbitrary in the extreme.
The way we work, and lose work, in Digital has a profound effect on
which category we end up in - and the knowledge of the statistics could
profoundly affect the way we continue (or not) to work in Digital.
In any event, the original topic was, IMHO, at least as relevant, and
much more interesting than many of the entries in this conference.

| As the author of note 4812, I certainly agree with the sentiments stated in
this note. However, over the years I have learned to live with the arbitrary
decisions of our illustrious moderators.

Jim

| I'm still very confused.
As a new user of notes I fail to understand wht notes such as 'Is
DECmodel still alive' are allowed in this conference.
My understanding is that this notesfile is about issues relating to
to working at digital.
What on earth has DECmodel got to do with this subject?

| You ask a good question.
The reason such questions are allowed is that we have recognized that,
given the lack of any corporate information infastructure, that this
conference serves the community as a place to get pointers to
information about Digital products. In many cases, the notes are
deleted soon after the questions are answered (or directions given.)
For those who can't find an appropriate notesfile (it's not always
obvious), DIGITAL serves as a backup.
