4812.0. "Where will we all be at Age 65?" by RCOCER::MICKOL (Upstate NY SBU Technical Support) Thu Aug 29 1996 18:49

According to the SSA: take 100 Americans at age 25 and follow them until
they're 65. 36 of them will have died, 5 are still working, 4 are financially
independent, 1 is wealthy, and 54 are broke...

4812.1Please clarify (and does this really belong here?)NEWVAX::PAVLICEKZot, the Ethical HackerThu Aug 29 1996 19:538
    Ummm...

I would have thought there would be some category between "financially
independent" (doesn't have to worry about paying the bills) and "broke"
(cannot pay the bills). Maybe you could post the _real_ names of
each category so we can figure out what is really claimed here?

BTW, is this referring to 100 Americans who were 25 in 1956 or 1996?
4812.2Sounds like .0 mixed this conf w/their SoapBox conf entry?vaxcpu.zko.dec.com::michaudJeff Michaud - ObjectBrokerThu Aug 29 1996 21:540

Hey, since there's so much talk about our future in this notes conference, I
thought the info in .0 would be of interest to the general Digital community.
I received the info from a friend and don't have any more detail. Contact the
SSA if you want to know more.

If the consensus is that this belong here, then the mods can remove it. As far
as I'm concerned, this is as interesting as much of the dialogue that takes up
space in this conference.

Jim

p.s.: I think the last time I was in Soapbox was 10 years ago. This conference
      is quite enough... thank you.
4812.4QUARK::LIONELFree advice is worth every centFri Aug 30 1996 10:195
This topic doesn't seem appropriate here - that you don't want to follow
another conference is not sufficient. The idea is that discussions here
should have some specific relevance to working at Digital.
