4809.0. "Relationship Proposal Info - Orace/Microsoft" by WOTVAX::HILTON (http://blyth.lzo.dec.com) Thu Aug 29 1996 14:58

Is there any 'generic' proposal type information regarding our Oracle
and Microsoft relationship, what it is, what benefits it has to the
    customer?

I've searched through the Web IR, and couldn't see anything, and the
VTX IR seems down to me at the moment.

I'm not after War & Peace, just a nice page long executive summary.

    Thanks,

    Greg

Hi, Greg, do you mean the separate relationships between Digital and
    Microsoft and Digital and Oracle?

There is a web home page for the Alliance for Enterprise Computing
between Digital and Microsoft at http://www.alliance.digital.com/

There's an entire presentation on the alliance at ir # OL009B (but
then you aren't looking for war and peace).

There is a Customer Update article announcing the original
strategic relationship agreement between Digital and Oracle at
    http://www.digital.com:80/info/Customer-Update/950301007.txt.html
    (note that's somewhat dated now)

You could also try searching the web ir for "vldb" "vlm64" or "limd"
for success stories regarding Oracle7 very large databases on
    AlphaServers.

Hope these are of some help, but they're not the "executive summary"
that you're looking for - if anyone else pointers to more cogent
    sources, I'd appreciate them too.

But Greg, if you're not able to find anything better, send me mail.
I've distilled some of these sources for a presentation I'm developing,
but it hasn't been reviewed yet so you'd need to have it verified
before putting it in a proposal.
