Is this a result of the last round of dumbsizing?

Allan L. Jennings joins Netlink as vice president of engineering;
Rapidly-growing, local networking company recruits former Digital executive

FRAMINGHAM, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 21, 1996-- Netlink, Inc., a
leading provider of performance-assured access to frame relay, today
announced it has appointed Allan L. Jennings as vice president of
engineering.

Formerly general manager of Digital Equipment Corp.'s Mobile Software
Business unit, Jennings directed the successful launch of Alta Vista,
Digital's Internet search engine. At Netlink, Jennings will be responsible
for the engineering efforts of the company's OmniLinx family of frame relay
products and network management software.

Netlink's award-winning OmniLinx family is based on an advanced software
architecture and powerful RISC-based platform. The OmniLinx family includes
TurboFRAD for branch site access, OmniFRAD for data center access, NetFRAD
for network-based access, the recently announced OmniLinx Switch for
private and hybrid networks, and the OmniView SNMP network management
system.

Jennings brings twenty years of engineering and networking experience to
Netlink. While at Digital Equipment Corp., Jennings was part of the
company's Advanced Technology Group, and led the extremely successful
launch of the AltaVista Internet search engine. Prior to Digital, he was
vice president and corporate officer, AViiON Development, for Data General
Corp., where under his leadership, AViiON revenue increased from $100M to
over $400M. Previously, Jennings served as vice president and general
manager of Unisys Corp.'s Micro Products Group, which included engineering,
product marketing and distribution.

Commenting on the appointment, Nina Saberi, president and CEO of Netlink,
asserted that Jennings' outstanding track record will enable him to
spearhead the company's aggressive product development plans. "End users
are increasingly demanding a smooth transition to cost-effective frame
relay and the carriers are in high-gear rolling out their SNA managed
services. Allan's keen understanding of the computer and networking
industries will ensure that we meet our commitments and capitalize on our
market requirements," said Saberi. Company Profile

Based in Framingham, Mass., Netlink Inc. has developed the industry's most
comprehensive solution for transporting information over frame relay. With
Netlink, customers can reduce networking costs by migrating their
mission-critical applications to frame relay and by consolidating multiple
traffic types over a common infrastructure. They can achieve these benefits
with assurance that data will be delivered reliably and predictability and
that response times will be maintained or improved. Netlink provides
carriers with key components of their frame relay-based value-added
services, increasing their differentiation through superior service levels
and network management.

I'm not sure the people who worked with him even noticed that he left.
This one sounds like "rightsizing" to me.

Cindy, et. al.:

I have no idea about the particulars of this situation.

But I do know that the current climate at Digital is enough
to make even some stellar performers into abject failures.
Many folks could be far more succesful elsewhere.

Well finally management is being held accountable for not performing
well. They are no longer safe from being TFSO'd. Thank Heavens!
