| Sorry, I guess I have shown that I am new to Notes conferencing.
Infact I am new to DEC too. Iwa trying to find out who is repsonsible for
testing DECsafe Failover for various network topologies. I have some
questions about DECsafe working over ATM.
I know DECsafe it works over Ethernet and FDDI. I would like to know some
details there. Please let me know to whom I can ask those questions.

Please do not use the outdated version of EASYNOTES.LIS on node ANCHOR. The
master copy is at HUMANE::SYS$PUBLIC: and see note 2 in the
TURRIS::EASYNET_CONFERENCES conference for a list of other locations.

| re .3
Note - if we (one day) ever ORGANIZED things instead of just building
them we'd do OK.
We have far too much junk buried under rocks and "oh just look here" or
"oh just go there" etc.
The folks in the 3M area sorta have their own little coffee club and
cultural network. That inbreeding is killing us.
Look at Digital from a CUSTOMER point of view (inconsistent strategies,
cancelled products, difficult support etc.) and ask if you'd bet your
business on us....
When I've had to orient new folks to Digital I've had to explain a web
of mail systems etc....we never make one thing work before we move on
to another. It's always easier, and makes it look like progress, if we
keep doing that....but it's not good biz.
I keep wishing that we'd DELETE all notes conferences about products
and make the official support mechanisms work well. Wow, would we sell
stuff then...

When you think of all the years in DEC that it takes to
find out where to look for the good stuff , notes conferences
TIMA etc etc.
It is crazy that when someone new joins the company that we
cannot provide them with an induction type of manual stating
the basic knowledge that many people have acquired of the where
and how to get information in order to do the job smarter.

On the other hand, they do seem to have down to a science
that part of the induction where they command you to "Cough!"

Unfortunately no organization is going to spend *their* funds. This is
another area that falls under the 'good for the corporation' but there is
no BU charged with developing these things. Each BU is only concerned with
what is good for itself.

rep .5
Without Notes Conferences, business as we know it would cease, not
slow down, cease, cease cease!!!
It seems (Seems Madam nay it is, I know not seems!), that Digital
Equipment Corp is not going to invest in the "Official" way of getting
information, support, etc. So the underground has tried to offer
information so that we "can do our jobs".
I'm not saying this is the preferred way of "doing business", just
that at DEC, er, Digital Equipment Corp,
"IT IS THE ONLY WAY TO DO BUSINESS"
I'd love to see more "official" support mechanisms in place, but
somehow I don't see it happening, after all, haven't we managed (sic)
to get this far...
As a former colleague used to say:
"There are no victims, only Volunteers!".
I do agree with the jist of .5

Also note that in newer versions of VMS, "SEA" is not a legal abbr for
SEARCH. You must enter SEAR, which conjures up some interesting images.

| Depends more on what you might have installed, I'd guess.
The above was cut & paste from V7.0. I'll check again when I have time
to throw on my FT 7.1 KIT.
