    From today's online Wall Street Journal, in an article
    on tech support lines:
    
    "I get a lot of calls from people saying it cost them
     $100 in phone bills" alone to solve problems, says
     Christina Wood, a senior editor at PC World who
     oversees the magazine's annual rating of customer
     support. The magazine, based on responses from
     almost 18,000 readers, recently ranked Packard Bell
     Electronics and Micron Technology's Zeos unit as
     worst in service, and labeled service at Gateway
     2000 and AST Research as only "fair." Apple
     Computer, Compaq, Dell Computer and Digital
     Equipment were among the best.

PC Magazine has a different take on it.  Digital's ranking dropped to B (from
A where it had been for the last three years).
